PET Polyethylene terephthalate (sometimes PETE) bottles are strong, clear and glass-like and are recycled to re-use the material out of which they are made and to reduce the amount of waste going to landfills. In many countries, PET plastics are coded with the resin identification code number "1" inside the universal recycling symbol, usually located on the bottom of the container. PET does not bio-degrade except in strong sunlight, and therefore is unsuitable for land-fill where it would most likely be buried under other rubbish.

200ml Round Natural Bottle made from HDPE plastic with White Foamer Head. HDPE, or high density polyethylene, is probably the most recognized recyclable plastic and is a plastic widely used in manufacturing products for home, business and industrial use. HDPE is made into many products and is resistant to acids, bases, alcohol and vegetable oils, as well as being impact resistant. Quick and easy to manufacture, it is used in a variety of applications from plastic bottles (detergent bottles, bleach bottles, milk cartons, juice, yogurt, margarine, cosmetics, shampoo and conditioner bottles, motor oil and many other non-food items and food containers) to gas pipeline and plastic lumber and furniture, It is also resistant to sustained heat of about 110 degrees. Many councils encourage recycling HDPE plastic products to reduce the amount of material entering landfills and also to help conserve natural resources such as petroleum used to manufacture the material. HDPE plastics are coded with the resin identification code number "2" inside the universal recycling symbol, usually located on the bottom of the container. Check with your recycling center on whether you need to sort and separate your HDPE plastics from your other recyclables.
